Boss Mick McCarthy felt 17-year-old right-back Kyle Hammond was one of those who impressed during the second half of Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Notts County. The Ipswich-born second-year scholar has been a regular member of the pre-season first team squad, along with fellow youngsters Amir Berkane, a midfielder who is also a second year, and left-back David October, a first-year professional.

Boss Mick McCarthy is delighted to have assembled his squad by the end of July, ahead of the start of the season at Reading next Saturday and well in advance of the end of the transfer window on Monday 2nd September. Speaking last week, the Town manager said he was after one more player and on Friday added Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe to his squad on loan, his 10th addition of the summer.

Former Blue Martijn Reuser will be amongst a number of high profile Dutch players on a boat at Gay Pride in Amsterdam next Saturday. The Dutch FA, the KNVB, has organised the boat which will take part in the annual parade along Amsterdam’s canals for the first time in support of gay acceptance within Dutch football.

Luke Hyam, Daryl Murphy and Paul Taylor were on the scoresheet as Town’s final pre-season friendly ended 3-3 at Notts County. The Blues were 2-1 in front at the break — ex-Town striker Danny Haynes netting for the home side — before Taylor lashed in a brilliant freekick for a much-changed Blues side after the break and County added two more, including a brilliant equaliser from Yoann Arquin.
